A new year, calls for new creative opportunities.

Say hello to Creative Belfast internships!

This year, we’re inviting six young people aged 18-25 to spend six paid months gaining real, hands-on experience working amongst Belfast’s creative and cultural world.

Based in Carlisle Memorial Church, interns will work behind the scenes of some of the city’s most exciting creative projects,  from documentary film-making and photography exhibitions to live music performances. This isn’t about watching from the sidelines. It’s about getting involved, learning on the job and helping make things happen.

You’ll be paid £14 per hour, gain confidence, build your creative network and develop skills that last, and you don’t need previous experience to apply. Just curiosity, commitment and a willingness to try.

Along the way, you’ll work with industry professionals from organisations like Vault Artist Studios and Belfast Photo Festival, receiving mentoring, training and the chance to build genuine career pathways in the creative industries. Each partner will lead interns in a planned activity to develop

As a Creative Belfast Intern, you will work on the following schedule of activities:

  • Organisation of a photography exhibition with Belfast Photo Festival – 13th-17th April
  • Work on events within the 2026 Cathedral Quarter Arts Festival – 1st-7th May
  • Organisation of a live musical performance with NI Opera – 11th-16th May
  • Organisation of community screenings for short films – June TBC
  • Helping to restore and display stained glass – July TBC
  • Reimagination of previous Creative Belfast work with Vault Artist Studios – One week in July, August and September
  • Co-design of an event with your fellow interns with Beat Carnival – September TBC

If working in the creative industry has ever felt out of reach, Creative Belfast is here to change that.

Applications are now open and close on 20th February 2026.
