Christchurch

Christchurch closed in 1992 and the building sat disused for a number of years after its purchase by RBAI. A fire in late 1995 destroyed it and the owners sought to replace the shell with a new sports hall. One of the few Georgian buildings in Belfast, BBT eventually secured a partnership with RBAI to save and restore the building as the school library and IT suite, with open-access opportunities for the local communities. The scheme, completed in 2003 at a cost of £1.4m, won the first Georgian Group award in Belfast. It is owned and managed by RBAI.
