St Patrick’s School

The first Catholic school in Belfast, it served as the local school for generations of young boys across north Belfast: amongst its past pupils were Gerry Fitt, Rinty Monaghan, and Frank Carson. It closed in the late 1980s and an arson attack in 1995 appeared to doom one of the city’s last remaining Gothic buildings: the Diocese sought to demolish the remains to extend the rear church car park. The Trust successfully completed a £1.2m regeneration scheme in 1999. The building now houses the Parish Hall, Diocesan Offices, and a community facility. It was sold back to the Diocese in 2020.
